ThreeSix Labs, Inc. ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") operates the Koala mobile application ("App" or "Koala"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use our App.

By using Koala, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

Onboarding Survey Responses. When you first use Koala, we collect responses to onboarding questions, including:

  • How you heard about Koala
  • Your age range
  • Your gender
  • Your average time spent on your phone

These responses are collected through RevenueCat and are associated with an anonymous user identifier only.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

Device and Usage Information. We automatically collect certain information through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, including:

  • Device model and manufacturer
  • Operating system version (iOS version)
  • App version
  • Unique anonymous device identifiers
  • App usage patterns and feature interactions
  • Session duration and frequency
  • Error logs and crash reports

Subscription Information. Through RevenueCat, we collect:

  • Subscription status (active, expired, canceled)
  • Subscription tier selected
  • Purchase and renewal dates
  • Trial usage information

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

No Personal Identifiable Information. We do not collect:

  • Name, email address, phone number, or other contact information
  • Photos, contacts, or other personal content
  • Location data
  • Precise device identifiers linked to your identity
  • Payment information (handled entirely by Apple)

No Account Creation. Koala does not require account creation. All functionality operates using anonymous identifiers only.

1.4 On-Device Data (Not Collected by Us)

Screen Time Data. The following information remains stored locally on your device and never leaves it:

  • Apps you choose to block
  • Blocking schedules you configure
  • Shield configurations
  • App usage tracked by Apple's Screen Time API

Apple's technical architecture prevents this data from being transmitted outside of the Screen Time extension on your device. We cannot access this information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the App's core functionality
  • To understand how users interact with features
  • To identify and fix bugs, crashes, and technical issues
  • To improve user experience and develop new features

2.2 Analytics and Research

  • To analyze usage patterns and trends in aggregate
  • To understand onboarding effectiveness
  • To measure feature adoption and engagement

2.3 Subscription Management

  • To manage subscription status and entitlements

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 Third-Party Service Providers

We share anonymous information with the following service providers who assist in operating the App:

Firebase (Google LLC)

RevenueCat, Inc.

  • Purpose: Subscription management and analytics
  • Data Shared: Subscription status, onboarding responses, anonymous user identifiers

3.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency), including to:

  • Protect the personal safety of users or the public

3.3 Business Transfers

If ThreeSix Labs, Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or bankruptcy, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

3.4 What We DO NOT Share

  • We do not sell your information to third parties
  • We do not share information for advertising purposes
  • We do not provide information to data brokers
  • We do not share aggregated or anonymized data with third parties for research or marketing

4. Data Retention

4.1 Anonymous Analytics Data

Since all data collected is anonymous and not linked to your identity:

  • Analytics data is retained indefinitely in aggregate form for operational purposes
  • Individual device data cannot be specifically identified or isolated for deletion
  • Crash logs and error reports are retained to improve app stability

4.2 On-Device Data

Data stored locally on your device (blocking schedules, app selections, preferences) is:

  • Retained on your device until you delete the App
  • Automatically deleted when you uninstall Koala
  • Not accessible to us or stored on our servers

4.3 Subscription Data

RevenueCat retains subscription information in accordance with their data retention policies for billing and subscription management purposes.

5. Data Security

5.1 Security Measures

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit using SSL/TLS
  • Use of secure third-party service providers with strong security practices
  • Regular security assessments and updates
  • Limited access to data by authorized personnel only

5.2 On-Device Security

Screen Time data and blocking configurations are protected by:

  • Apple's Screen Time API security architecture
  • iOS device-level encryption
  • Sandboxed app extensions that prevent data exfiltration

5.3 No Guarantee

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Choices and Rights

6.1 Limited Data Collection

Since we only collect anonymous data not linked to your identity:

  • There is no user account to access, update, or delete
  • Anonymous analytics cannot be tied back to you or removed on an individual basis
  • You maintain complete control over on-device data

6.2 Opt-Out Options

Stop Data Collection: You can stop all data collection by:

  • Uninstalling the App from your device
  • Canceling your subscription through Apple App Store settings

iOS Privacy Settings: You can manage certain iOS-level permissions in your device Settings app, including:

  • Screen Time permission (required for core app functionality)
  • Notification permissions (optional)

6.3 Analytics Opt-Out

Firebase Analytics:

  • You can limit ad tracking through iOS Settings > Privacy > Tracking
  • Note: Koala does not use advertising, but this may limit some analytics

7. Children's Privacy

7.1 Age Requirement

Koala is available for users aged 4 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or knowingly allow such persons to create accounts or use features that would result in personal data collection.

7.2 Anonymous Data Only

Since we only collect anonymous analytics data not linked to any individual's identity, our data collection practices comply with children's privacy regulations including COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).

7.3 Parental Rights

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information (which should not be possible through normal app use), please contact us at koala@threesixlabs.org, and we will investigate and take appropriate action.

8. California Privacy Rights

8.1 CCPA Applicability

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants California residents certain rights regarding their personal information. However, because Koala only collects anonymous information not linked to individual identities:

  • We do not collect "personal information" as defined by CCPA
  • Standard CCPA rights (access, deletion, opt-out) do not apply to truly anonymous data
  • We do not sell personal information

We do not track users across third-party websites or services. Our App does not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals because we do not engage in tracking for advertising purposes.

The European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides certain rights to individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA). However:

  • Koala only collects anonymous data not linked to identifiable individuals
  • Anonymous data that cannot be used to identify a person is not considered "personal data" under GDPR
  • Standard GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) do not apply to truly anonymous data

9.2 Legal Basis for Processing

For any data that might be considered personal data under GDPR, our legal basis for processing is:

  • Contract performance (providing the App services you subscribed to)

ThreeSix Labs, Inc. is the data controller for any information collected through the App.

12. Mental Health and Well-Being Disclaimer

12.1 Not a Medical Device

Koala is a productivity and screen time management tool designed to help users develop healthier phone usage habits. Koala is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition, including but not limited to:

  • Technology addiction or behavioral addictions
  • Anxiety, depression, or other mental health disorders
  • Attention-deficit disorders
  • Sleep disorders
  • Any other medical or psychological condition

12.2 No Professional Advice

The App does not provide:

  • Medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
  • Mental health counseling or therapy
  • Professional clinical recommendations

Any information or features provided through the App are for informational and motivational purposes only.

12.3 Consult Healthcare Professionals

If you are experiencing:

  • Compulsive or addictive behaviors related to technology use
  • Mental health concerns, anxiety, or depression
  • Sleep disturbances or other health issues
  • Any condition that may require professional intervention

Please consult a qualified healthcare provider, therapist, or mental health professional. Koala is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care.

12.4 Emergency Situations

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or crisis, please:

  • Call emergency services (911 in the United States)

  • Seek immediate help from a healthcare professional or emergency room

Koala does not provide crisis intervention or emergency services.

12.5 User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

  • Monitoring your own health and well-being
  • Seeking professional help when needed
  • Making informed decisions about your phone usage and mental health
  • Understanding that blocking apps may have unintended consequences (such as missed important communications)

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

13.1 Right to Modify

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors.

13.2 Notice of Changes

When we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Notify you through the App or other reasonable means
  • Provide at least 30 days' notice for material changes where feasible

13.3 Continued Use

Your continued use of Koala after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
